| Carers Sitting Service - Crossroads
The Crossroads organisation cares for carers and provides a service to enable individuals with a caring responsibility for a husband, wife, partner, relative or friend to take some time outside of the caring role. The volunteer will be supporting the looked after person whilst their main carer is away. For this role you will need to be at least 18 years old and be understanding, have good communication skills and be flexible, whilst previous experience is not essential it may prove helpful to this role if you have worked in the caring professions, for example, social care, social work or nursing. Committee Secretary - Northampton Mencap Society Mencap provides leisure opportunities, accommodation, individual support and advice for people with a learning disability and their families and carers. This friendly group needs a new enthusiastic Secretary to take minutes of their monthly meetings. You will need good communication skills and be available for our meetings held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Singing For The Brain Support Volunteers - Alzheimer's Society Singing for the Brain is an exciting new project being launched to provide music and movement stimulation for people with dementia and their carers. If you like music and singing you can help by encouraging participation, supporting the group leader, and helping with setting out of room and making beverages. Befriending Volunteers – Age Concern Northamptonshire This organisation are looking for self-motivated volunteers who have the confidence to work independently, befriending older people who are experiencing loneliness. Befriending can take the form of visiting them in their own homes, or assisting to the local supermarket, walking in the local park or accompanying to events. Currently volunteers are needed in the Kingsthorpe and Duston areas to visit an older, lonely person, once a week for 2 hrs max. Meeting and Greeting Volunteer - Shopmobility The organisation provides wheelchairs and electric scooters to disabled young and not-so-young to shop within Northampton town centre. You would be the first point of contact for our members, meet and greet them with a smile and cheery word and get their day off to a great start. This role would suit the newly retired or anyone seeking work experience.
